Rachel Stephanie Akinyi is a Co-founder and the acting C.E.O of ANIKA254, an art-based initiative whose aim is to change the world, art at a time. Her desire to be part of this initiative has been motivated by also being creative. Her alias name is Spontaneous, an award-winning Kenyan-based Spokenword Artist who fuses both poetry and music in her performances. Guided by her mantra, ‘to live life is to love love’, her poetry educates, motivates, and entertains. Her vision is to use art to spur positive change in society.
Her journey in the art scene thus far has comprised of Event planning, Artist and stage management, experiential artistry, Voice Overs, Initiation of Humanitarian works, and Mentorship. This has been made through lots of learning and skill enhancement through the Harvard Copyrights and the Go Down creative entrepreneurship course.
Other pursuits include Bsc in Applied Statistics with Computing, a Certificate course in Proposal Writing at Asset Africa, Non-Violent Resistance, and National Healing and Reconciliation at Hekima University. This explains her other role as a Program Assistant at Peace Tree Network, an organization that focuses on Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution.
Other organizations that she has worked with as a creative include PAWA254, HAART Kenya, SCAD Kenya, The Great African Caravan and This is Africa. She’s graced concerts and campaigns as #SafeMigration #FormNiDiva and #IamJuliani. In addition, she has also received recognition in both the national and international media.
